From May 21 to 24, an international conference will be held in Parma, with the sponsorship of SIMLA, organized by EAFE (European Association of Forensic Entomology).
The meeting
Here’s how the organizers present the event:
The prestigious international conference EAFE will take place alongside the annual GIEF meeting (Italian Group of Forensic Entomologists) at the Institute of Legal Medicine in Parma from May 21 to 24, 2025.
The program, currently being defined by the scientific committee (composed of both EAFE and GIEF boards), includes invited talks, sessions dedicated to oral communications and posters (following a preliminary selection), and possibly a theoretical-practical workshop.
Our affiliated group SIMLA intends to give ample space to forensic medical cases and research in this field, hoping for participation from students, residents in legal medicine, and experts in various forensic sciences (thanatology, anthropology, molecular genetics, toxicology etc.) in order to promote an interdisciplinary approach to using insects in investigations.

In the program you will find all the information regarding the submission of oral or poster presentations as well as the appropriate submission form. The deadline for submissions has been set for 20 March 2025.

Within your registration request you will receive payment details. The deadline for early registration is March 27, 2025. After this date it will no longer be possible to receive a discounted fee. Registration is possible until May 10, 2025. Participants may attend only pre-meeting events or just one session of either EAFE or the workshop. If a participant wishes to attend all events they will receive a discounted rate. The registration fee includes coffee breaks, lunches provided during each day’s activities, congress kit and social dinner as well as any transfers. All cancellations and changes must be sent via written form to [email protected]. Refunds for registration fees are processed as follows:
- –100% refund if cancellation is received by March 15th, 2025
- 50% refund if cancellation occurs between March 16th and April 15th, 2025
- No refunds for cancellations received after April 15th ,2025.
